Tonight is the Ben Folds show at Duke. I should by hyped but I don't have tickets. I don't have tickets because Page Auditorium, however great the venue may be, is not big enough to satisfy the demand on Ben tickets. I'm slightly heartbroken cause I hear Ben might be coming with a band. Also, Ben Lee is the opening act. It's ok to miss this show due to all the other times I have seen Ben.

Ben Folds Five April 1999: The Ritz
Ben Folds w/ band September 2001: Cat's Cradle
Ben Folds w/ band September 2001 again: Cat's Cradle
Ben Folds w/ band November 2001: The Ritz
    Ben Folds solo: June 2002
    Ben Folds solo: April 2004

That's six times with Mr. Ben.

I'm hyped cause tomorrow I am going to Charlotte to see Something Corporate. It'll only be my second time seeing them. If they play Cavanaugh Park, I swear I'm going to cry. That's one of my favorites by them that they didn't play when I saw them in Maryland last May. A band called Straylight Run is opening and my sis gave me their cd and it's pretty cool. Should be a great show.

    Holy crap, blog post!

Yeah, sorry I haven't posted in forever. Every time I sit down to start I get distracted by...hey, a bird!! Anyways, I have very little going on right now aside from class, band, and several crucial television shows. The classes I'm taking in this, my last semester at UNC (sob) are as follows:
German 61 - German Culture and the Jewish Question
Very interesting, and also extremely depressing. It turns out that the Germans didn't really like the Jews and excluded them from their guilds and professions and country clubs. Also, there was the Holocaust.
    German 3 - This time it's personal.
History 129 - The History of the Scientific Revolution
Also pretty cool. The ancients were simultaneously brilliant and retarded. Then there was the Revolution where they became less dumb.
    Intermediate Fencing - I BOUGHT A SABRE.

    And of course pep band.

In other news, I'm working on getting my Boston pictures scanned and posted to the interweb, even though a good 25% of them are pictures of Boston and the sleeve of my coat.

Finally, a poll: 1. What was the last book you read? 2. What are you reading now? 3. What was the last CD you bought?
    1. Peace Kills by PJ O'Rourke
    2. Gates of Fire by Stephen Pressfield

I saw Big Fish for the first time last night and today my eyes have swollen shut. I'll be first to admit that a fair share of movies make me cry, but this movie definitely enters the ranks as epic bawl-worthy. You know, the ones that shred your half piece of napkin, the ones that turn your face into a stream of tears and snot, the ones that make you cry again during the drive home *and* as you fall asleep. (Am I the only who does that?) Anyway, my list (Here be spoilers):

-Life is Beautiful: I still remember seeing this at Blue Ridge, and you could hear sniffling up and down the stalls in the bathroom after the movie. There's not a single moment that does it for me, just the entire movie that kills your soul, but in an uplifting way.

-The Little Mermaid: Up until I was 13 or so, I cried every single time at the end when Ariel hugs King Triton and says "I love you, Daddy." A Disney shout-out to Bambi, because the first ten minutes are the most traumatizing in movie history.

    -Little Women: BETH DIES.

-House of Sand and Fog: This one struck me from left field; I was not expecting to cry as much as I did. When Kathy enters the bedroom after Behrani has poisoned his wife and he has suffocated to death... Ben Kingsley is the man.

-The Last Samurai: Katsumoto sword kebob + Hans Zimmer score + cherry blossom leaves in the wind = tears.

Honorable mentions: Braveheart, Gattaca, Forrest Gump, A River Runs Through It, The Notebook, Titanic, ET, LotR: RotK, Armageddon

So here's to my fifth post in a row!!!

It snowed here on Wednesday and basically shut down Raleigh. Kids were trapped in schools overnight and NC State even cancelled the bus system two hours before classes were cancelled. That just isn't right. Luckily I was home by 11:30am before it started snowing. They've called for more snow tonight but it hasn't come yet. It's wet out so I would expect some icy roads in the morning.

It's a few days overdue, but I would like to congratulate Amanda on her new job! Welcome to the working world. You'll never be the same.

I started classes on Monday. I've got three interesting ones set for MWF. I have the intention of dropping one.

FS 201 Food Science and the Consumer - the class is in the Weisiger-Brown Athletics Facility in the team meeting room. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's the old football headquarters before it all moved to the Murphy center. The class is in the big auditorium and it has big comfy chairs. They are nice even if they don't have desks. My professor is originally from Chelsea, Mass which everyone knows is near Boston. He went to UMass Amherst and then did PhD at VA Tech. Then he ended up at NCSU. He's lost most of his accent but you could hear it when he pronounced "started" as "stahrded." The class is my science elective and it sounds like I'm gonna learn useful stuff.

SOC 204 Sociology of the Family - I signed up for this one cause I needed a social science and it was in the time slot I needed. It seems ok. Nothing to be excited about. It's a big class (70 people or so) and we have to give oral presentations. Lame but I'm gonna have to keep the class unless i look for another.

ANT 251 - Physical Anthropology - This class seems like it is a good one. The drawback is this is my safety class that I thought I would drop. It's in a classroom in Harrelson and it was hot in there and had a 100 people all sitting next to each other. I swear like every single seat was filled. Under better conditions I would consider keeping the class. But looks like I may drop it afterall. I'm going to go to my classes tomorrow and decide for sure.

MUS100? - Varsity Band - Pep band. Going to class is just a formality. The games are the real thing for the class. I just wish Chelsea would get on things and post the points. I need to know where I stand. It was also good news that Fuller was going to cut off the point contest early and pick bands before spring break. It sucks waiting around so long to find out if you are picked or not. Then I won't have to go to every single game after the cut off point if I don't want to. Right now I'm attending every single one until I know I am safe to miss any. I'm worried about the 5 preseason ones I missed and the one rehearsal I didn't attend. There's not way 29 other people attended all of those and would beat me out on points. Besides, I've got the second mello spot on a lock-down for sure. He has to take two mellos. Right? Yes.

    What's up for tomorrow?

PE 10? - Body Aerobics and Conditioning - I am really excited about this. I thought it would be more fun to take then fitness walking.

ENG 262 - British Lit II - I just want to read Austen and Dickens but unfortunately neither of them are in the syllabus. It covers other lit between 1700-1900. Only one paper and 3 tests with some quizzes so it should be ok. We're covering Oscar Wilde "The Importance of Being Earnest" so I have that to look forward to. Also some Keats thrown in there and a work by John Stuart Mill I covered in my Poli Theory class.

MUS 100B - Concert Band - I'm back for a fourth year. I need a low stress environment where I can play my flute. I'll declare myself first chair again and play all the solos. Or I may play piccolo. I haven't decided yet. I expect to see everyone at the concert in April.

And that's it! If I drop Anthro then I will have 12 hours of credit. Sounds good to me.

Jude Law is engaged to marry Sienna Miller after the actress accepted his romantic Christmas Day proposal. Miller - who met Law on the set of Alfie soon after his bitter 2003 divorce from Sadie Frost - was overcome with emotion when the actor pulled out a diamond engagement ring and asked her to wed him. Following Miller's immediate acceptance, Law then informed his children Rafferty, Iris and Rudy of his martial plans the following day when he whisked them off for a sunny holiday in the Seychelles. A spokeswoman for the couple, Caira Parks, last night confirmed Law and Miller will tie the knot - although they're still working on a date for the big day. She said, "It's true they are engaged. Jude has bought Sienna a big cluster diamond ring. He asked Sienna to marry him on Christmas Day. They spent Christmas together in England. They then headed to the Indian ocean. They have told their families the news and they're thrilled, as are Jude's children. They love Sienna and can't wait for the wedding. No date has been set yet and it is not known whether it will be this year. The date will depend on their filming schedules. They are both very busy at the moment." The news comes just months after Law and Miller rubbished reports they were planning to marry.

New Years Resolution round-up. I haven't come up with any original ones so I am consulting Bridget Jones's Diary and listed are ones of hers I will like to follow:

-Get upset over men, but instead be poised and cool ice-queen.
-Have crushes on men, but instead form relationships based on mature assessment of character.
-Bitch about anyone behind their backs, but be positive about everyone.
-Sulk about having no boyfriend, but develop inner poise and authority and sense of self as woman of substance, complete without boyfriend, as best way to obtain boyfriend.

    I WILL:
-Improve career and find new job with potential
