Chun and I rocked the CPK tonight. (California Pizza Kitchen if you didn't catch the Seth Cohen reference)

    We started with this:

    and followed up with this:

    and this:

We had a cute, but standoffish waiter who would have had a better tip if he had flirted back with us and refilled our drinks more promptly. But still, a nice dining experience.

I just recently took time out of my exciting life to see what the hysteria is over the Terri Schiavo news. It seems she was severely brain damaged in 1990 and has been kept alive with machines since. A court order removed the feeding tube that was keeping her alive eleven days ago. From what I can tell, her parents, family, and the rest of the world want the tube reinserted and her be kept alive. Her husband and his lawyer do not want the tube reinserted and claim that she wouldn't want to be kept alive by these measures. There are two things I don't understand in this case.

Why after 15 years is the feeding tube finally coming out? I understand people have living wills that say they do not want to be kept alive artificially. I've been affected by this action cause it's how my Grandpa went last fall. But 15 years just seems like an awful long time for action to finally be taken.

Then secondly, I read the family thinks Terri will improve and respond to treatment. After 15 years of a "persistent vegetative state" do people ever really just come out of it?

What do you want to happen in your life? I think that if my brain becomes damaged and I need a machine to maintain life then I probably would want to be taken off. However, if I am in a coma and there is a chance I could come out of it, I'd want to stay on the machine. Crazy things happen with comas and people.

Just some stuff to think about.

I spent this weekend in lovely Charlotte, NC watching my Heels stomp all over some chumps. It was a grand old time. We stayed at the Westin, the same hotel where the team stayed. It was also the same hotel where a Mary Kay convention and some kind of youth girl dance convention stayed. So it was an interesting atmosphere. Some skanky pre-teens apparently found out which floor the basketball players were staying on. I don't know what they expected, but I doubt they got it. Hyah are my pictures from the weekend. The first one is the view from my room. The little building that you can see to the right of the tallest building is where we stayed for the Tire Bowl. The Westin beds were amazing, but the covers weighed at least 900 pounds - very hard to get up in the morning.

The first round started around noon on Friday. We watched Minnesota lose to Iowa State before we beat the snot out of 16-seed Oakland. I'm going to trust you to click "next" on my Yahoo pictures because I'm too lazy to link them all. There was an Adam Boone sighting - he transferred from UNC to Minnesota - but he wasn't dressed for the game. He's taller than I remember.

Saturday was an off day. David picked up Lauren and I and we went out to lunch in South Charlotte at an Italian place. Then we went to Borders for a bit, and then we got lost for about half an hour because David couldn't find this gelato place he had been to once before. We got there eventually, though. Was it worth it? Meh. That afternoon we mostly watched basketball, because my uncle Rusty has the flu and couldn't hang out with me. The highlight of the day was Wake Forest losing in 2OT to West Virginia. Stuck up bastards got what they deserved.

Sunday was round two - UNC vs. Iowa State. They had a big slow white guy center named Homan, and a guy named Stinson who was pretty good, but otherwise they posed no challenge. We won by 20+. The lowlight of that game was when the dook band showed up in the middle of the first half. They generally acted like fools, and I spotted Paul dancing like "a retarded monkey" to quote Lisa the picc. They struggled in their game, which was nice, but they won, which wasn't. We didn't get to watch it though.

Anyway, that was my weekend. Stay tuned next week when Jenny and I follow our respective teams to Syracuse for the Sweet 16/ Elite 8 (hopefully.)

I bought a new kind of cereal. It is Kellogg's Cinnamon Krunchers. It's basically like a mix of Crispix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch but half as good as either of those two cereals. Well anyway on the front of the box it advertised a toy from Robots. I open the box, and there the toy is, in a separate plastic bag right on top of the bag of cereal. What in the world? When did they start doing this. I know it was a pain but toys go at the bottom of the cereal. That's why it's a prize. Cause you have to go through so much work to get it.

Let's face it: we are a group of lucky (dare I say spoiled??) biatches with every creature comfort. So I submit to you two worthy causes and ask for your support.

    1. Anysoldier.com
Thoughtful folks were sending care packages to "Any Soldier," but turns out the post office wouldn't/couldn't deliver them. So this website is a centralized clearinghouse of military dudes who have provided their names and addresses and will accept/distribute packages on behalf of their fellow soldiers. It looks totally legit. So I'm thinking we adopt one or two of these soldiers, head to Wal-Mart one afternoon and buy simple stuff like toothpaste, razors, deodorant and candy, burn copies of our fave DVDs and CDs, write a few letters w/ a group pic and send them on behalf of the Justice League. We can even include the anvil web address or a pre-addressed postcard to see if we get a response.

    2. WataugaHumaneSociety.org
On a more domestic (domesticated, haha) note, how about sponsoring one of the animals at the Watauga Humane Society. They're an awesome group but really, really poor. Five bucks apiece to partially sponsor whichever pet we like, or ten bucks for a full sponsorship. That'll take care of food, drugs, spay/neutering, things we enjoy the most in life. He/she can become the official mascot of the Justice League.

So how about it, kids? Half cup more of guilt? Tbsp less on puns?

I love Baked Lays. I think they are an excellent potato crisp. However, I recently bought a bag of Baked Ruffles. While they are just as good as Baked Lays, they have one drawback. Ruffles chips are pretty tough normally. The Baked version is even tougher. When I hold up a whole chip between two fingers to take a bite, the thing cracks and I've nearly bit off the whole entire chip. Not very helpful cause the chip sizes are extraordinary large. I propose they make them smaller, at least in the Ruffles variety.

My only other concern is the same concern you get with every single other bag of chips ever. You open the bag to find it containing only half the bag's amount of chips. Burn.

Has anyone else ever had Baked Lays? Thoughts?

So I have this friend. He had a midterm and saw a guy cheating. This isn't one of those pansy scrap of paper on the desk cheating. This was hardcore moving his desk over so he could look over a girl's shoulder and see her paper and then taking his notes out to cheat when the instructor left the room. My friend sits in the back corner of the room so it will be easy for the cheater to figure out who told on him. What would you do in this situation? Would you have acted during the test? Comments otherwise?

My friend is taking classes at UNCC and ultimately decided to email the professor with the information.
