Mine would be, eating really good takeout Chinese food by the lake, then later chilling on the couch watching sports, ideally the Braves, and they win. Other baseball, football, college basketball, and Sportscenter are also acceptable. Also I don't have to pay for the Chinese food.
As calm, relaxed, and removed from life as they come, you're just so chilled out, it hurts people to see you. Everyone aspires to be where you are, but most of them just can't put their stress away. Little do they know that even you sometimes have inner turmoil and struggles! For the most part, though, it's sun and fun for you, and that's the way you like it. This seems to be an appropriate time to rant about my love/hate relationship with the Fox network. You see, Fox has produced a good 90% of my all time favorite shows - The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, X-Files, 24...all excellent, all Fox. They also make good movies. But I have been pissed beyond all reason at them since I discovered the short-lived but amazing show Firefly.
Firefly is a bit hard to explain in a short summary, which may have contributed to its downfall. It's set 500 years in the future, and Earth is all used up, so people have colonized other planets. The colonies are very frontier-y, like the Old West in outer space. The show is focused on a group of 9 people, who live on a ship called Serenity and perpetrate crime, much in the way of hookers with hearts of gold. Their nemesis is the Anglo-Sino Alliance, which governs everything. The dialogue was sharp, the stories were great, the characters were likeable (mostly), and the actors were fantastic. And yet Fox only let the show run for 11 episodes.
Fox gave the show the Friday night time slot of death, in which nothing had been successful since the X-Files moved to Sunday night. They gave the show little to no advertising support, and they cut it loose at the first sign of low ratings. They had a great show on their hands and didn't do jack to keep it on the air.
Cut to 2 or 3 years later, when the crew of the show is attempting to make a movie. Fox doesn't want to make the movie. But apparently they don't want anyone else to make the movie either. In order to get the film rights FOR HIS OWN SHOW, Joss Whedon had to sign away the television rights for 10 YEARS, effectively killing any chance of renewing the series if the box office was good.
Add this to the way they mishandled their 3 animated shows - the amazing moving timeslot of Family Guy, the lack of support for Futurama, and their inability to axe The Simpsons when it started to suck, and my feelings for Fox are hardly warm and fuzzy.
Sorry, Jenny. Thanks for carrying the weight around here. It always gets slow in the summer, I guess.
Topics I've considered posting about: -How bored I am. Rejected because if there's anything more boring than reading about how bored someone is, I haven't found it. By the way, I'm bored as shit. -The Tour De France. Rejected for the reason that I'm the only one who watches the Tour De France. Also rejected for the mild disgust at OLN's inexplicable crotch close-ups (the same reason I don't like watching Olympic wrestling). -Harry VI. Rejected because the whole damn operation is being so closed-mouthed, and also I'm spazzy enough already. -The London terrorist attacks today. Not funny in the least. Very scary.
So that's why I haven't posted in a while. But I promise I will straighten up and fly right from now on.
