A 17-year-old Apex High School student is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing U.S. 64 this morning, Apex police said.
Police said the accident occurred about 6:50 a.m. on U.S. 64 near Laura Duncan Road when the student walked into the path of the vehicle.
Police said the accident was still under investigation, but that the vehicle, which was traveling east, had a green light.

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I saw that coming like a ton of bricks.

Do you have to be dumb as a brick to be a reporter?
My mom has had the Hurricane Rita stuff on 24/7 and I can't believe the on location shots they have been showing. One reporter almost fell over cause the wind gusts were so bad. At one point they said they couldn't check in with one team out in the storm due to "technically difficulties." Um, does that mean that their van crashed and tragedy struck? The person at the desk followed it up with a statement that they did indeed care about the well being of their work colleagues out there.
HELLO!
If you cared about them then you wouldn't let them go out in a hurricane just so people in other parts of the country can see how hard it is raining or how much it has flooded. Obviously the people in danger know the hurricane is coming. They've been warned the last several days with all the coverage.
So I guess I'm saying that hurricane coverage is good, but we don't need up-to-the-minute coverage as the hurricane is striking land.

"Because the amount of carcinogens we used to induce tumors was very high, we needed to use a very high dose of isothiocyanates to see any effect," says researcher Fung-Lung Chung, PhD, professor of oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center, in a news release.
He may be genius oncology researcher and magnetic lecturer, but honestly... Fung-Lung Chung??
Does anyone out there honestly drink that much water per day? As part of my "get healthy by my birthday" plan I've been downing that much. Man oh man is it hard. Thank goodness I have a Brita water pitcher. That thing is sure getting some use.

The TBAA crew is heading to San Franciso in less than a month. Post a comment of fun things to do in the Bay Area (preferably accessable by the BART) if you have been there.
That means you, Paul. Maybe some other people have been there too? I hope so.
