Overheard at the Anthropologie fitting rooms today:

Her: I don't know, honey. Does it look OK?
    Him: It really looks good.
Her: Are you sure? I think it's...
Him: Don't worry; if it didn't look nice, I would tell you not to buy it.
Her: If you think it looks good...
Him: You look beautiful in it. It's really flattering.
Her: Well, I probably wouldn't get it otherwise, but I'll wear it for you.

This went on for five more minutes. It took all my effort to not hurl, either by throwing furniture in their general direction or vomiting in ladylike manner.

I took another step into adulthood and joined AAA on my own account. I could have been an addition on my parent's for another 6 months (under 25 age limit) but I figured what they hey and just got my own year long. I was able to get by before cause my dad's name was on my car title. My current car is solely in my name. I now can get AAA discount on travel and get all those cool free maps and travel guides. I learned how to change a tire in AmeriCorps but you never know when you're gonna need to have your car towed. I'm driving to Ohio in June so it's part of the preparations.

Tonight we went to Olive Garden for Mother's Day. Of course it was busy. They told us a 30 min wait but I think we were seated in about 20 mins. Our server, Mike, was a bit frazzled but seemed to be hanging in there. We ordered, got our salad and breadsticks, and dinner came out directly after. I got a five cheese baked ziti dish. It was good and I saw other things on the menu I'd like to try. We had a $60 bill and my dad left $8.50 on the credit receipt. I felt bad for Mike (and he was cute with a sexy voice) so I covertly slipped another $3 on the table as we left.

Another one else with Mother's Day stories?

Ozzy ran away on Thursday. He was chained outside and got unhooked in the afternoon. I noticed it about 4:15 and even went into work an hour late so I could help look for him. My mom put up signs around the neighborhood. At 8:30 I called home and still no news.

I got home around 1am from work and the poster that my mom put up on the stop sign outside my house was taken down. There was a call on the caller id around 10:15pm that I traced to a house in the next neighborhood over. I'm hoping that means animal control has Ozzy and we can pick him up tomorrow.

I wanted to cry but held in the tears cause I knew bawling in the car wouldn't help me find him. I hope he's ok. I'll get you all posted. I was really scared and felt like I was going to throw up at work.

    He's my baby.

It's been an exciting week here at JLHQ South. On Sunday night, my laptop's hard drive died after a short illness. I had woken up in the middle of the night a few nights previous to loud and ominous clicking noises, so I started making some backups and got almost everything. The repair guys said they'd have it installed for me by tomorrow, so I'll be able to spend the afternoon restoring the lappy to its former glory.

Tuesday was cleaning and bookshelf replacing day. Sully liked it when I washed my bed stuff. My old bookshelves weighed about a jillion pounds each, even with all my books on my bed. The new shelves were a right pain to build and took for-dang-ever, but they turned out pretty well, I think. Here's the finished product:
Shelves part 1. I made sure to leave an empty space for Harry Potter VII (74 days oh em gee!).
Shelves part 2. Scully is shocked by how many paperbacks I have. Or by the bank robber with a bomb strapped to his chest, I forget which.

Then on Thursday, I got my new car! It's a 2007 Jetta 2.0T, and it's ridiculously cool. It has a 2.0L I4 engine with 200hp, 6 speed manual, 6 disc cd changer, beige leather interior and a sunroof. Pictures!
    Front view
    Side view
    3/4 view
The butt. I'm not the biggest fan of the taillights, but I can get used to it.
Interior. The seats are heated! Plus it has an iPod connection in the glove box.
The trunk That's a three-Hoffa trunk at least. Plus it's got a nice rubber mat in there to keep the blood from soaking into the upholstery. Note to law enforcement: I have never committed a murder.

So that was my week in pictures.

Could you say no to this face?

My friend works at a vet and this kitten and another one were brought in after someone found them abandoned.

    My friend Heather writes:
"The thing is, I don't know if its because of a lack of nutrients and the really hot weather... but somehow their feet got badly damaged. Pretty much their paws and toes died and fell off. Its kinda weird, but not as horrible as one would imagine. They both have completely lost one paw, and the rest of their feet are just a little malformed. They act like normal furry little kitties and can move around fine, so while they are trying to find a permanent home for them I offered to keep them!

    And now…

The Award For The Most Passive-Aggressive Act Of The Month Or So goes to

    *drumroll, please*

    My douchebag downstairs neighbor!

You know, occasionally stuff falls off my deck. Like a clay pot or something. If it were plastic or paper or whatever, I’d go pick it up. But something like a clay pot, well, I just kind of go down there and sweep the pieces under a bush. Because 1) it’s a natural product, like wood or something and b) I’m not trying to cut my hands on pot shards. You also know that when I brush the cat, I throw the fur off the deck for the birds to build with.

Apparently the neighbor, a middle-aged man who lives alone and builds model airplanes, which he spray paints outside effectively gassing anyone on my deck, takes offense to this.

I don’t know this because he told me. Not because he told management and they told me. Not even because he left a snippy little note on my door or something.

I know this because he gathered up the fur and pot shards and put them in a baggie and chucked them up onto my deck.

What a wiener. And this isn’t the first time. I couple months ago I found a different baggie of Marvin’s fur on the deck but I didn’t really didn’t think anything of it. I guess I just figured I had done it at some time for some reason that probably made sense to me then. But I suppose it was Downstairs Man being a dick.
